Photojournalism Essay by Gwyneth Bao

On May 9th, a family takes a hike at Silver Falls, just as the early morning sun peeks through the trees. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, outdoor treks were becoming a common routine.

At the turning point of the trail, the cascade of a thunderous waterfall sends droplets flying in every direction. With the additional morning mist, hikers had to be cautious of the slippery, rocky outcrops.

Small creatures can be found at any point on the journey, boasting elegant, intricate outer shells. The snail had most likely came out in search of the damp, humid weather.
