By Mary Rechner Mass Communications Teacher After the turkey and the pumpkin pie, students in Mass Communications interviewed an elder using the free StoryCorps app. Why StoryCorps? By mid-November Mass Communications students have read, listened to and watched lots of news focusing on people disagreeing with one another-- conflict is one of the primary news values. The Great Thanksgiving Listen project illustrates how communications technology can also be a vehicle for connection and relationship building. “My favorite part of the interview was to see how happy it made my grandma to do the interview,” said one Mass Communication student. Several students uploaded their interviews with an elder to the StoryCorps archive "housed" by the Library of Congress. Listen to student Cate Bikales' interview with her grandmother here .
