The two poets in the video are Olivia Gatwood, Megan Falley reciting their poem “ SAY NO.” The pure strength in their voices is enough to evoke emotion as they touch on topics of rape, sexual harassment, equal pay and the struggles women go through in society today and in the past. Even with some vulgar language that is used to emphasis the point of just saying no won't be enough to make you happy, I still find myself captivated by the words that are being spoken. Graduating senior Emilie Kono is a student athlete with a love for science and music. Photo by: Claire Yoo New Japanese club leader, freshman Luna Abadia has a goal to spread a wider variety of cultures at Lincoln High School. By: Claire Yoo Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and Mandarin. These are the typical languages that are taught in Portland Public Schools. Luna Abadia, a freshman attending Lincoln High School, wants to make a change. She believes that she and her peers should come together to learn about a broader variety of languages and cultures. Abadia started learning Japanese a few years ago during Christmas, when she was learning to draw a Japanese style drawing. “I was really curious about all the characters and symbols that I didn’t understand that were Japanese, that were [also] often in the images.” said Abadia. From there, she started to learn the basic symbols of the language. First on her own, and eventually with a private Japanese teacher.
