"Say No" - slam poetry

This slam poetry video is a strong representation of how words can move someone. The two poets in the video are Olivia Gatwood, Megan Falley reciting their poem “ SAY NO.” The pure strength in their voices is enough to evoke emotion as they touch on topics of rape, sexual harassment, equal pay and the struggles women go through in society today and in the past.

Even with some vulgar language that is used to emphasis the point of just saying no won't be enough to make you happy, I still find myself captivated by the words that are being spoken. As a female growing up in today's society, I face the facts that if I haven't already experienced any of these experiences yet, odds I will soon. This slam poem is not only a caution for people out there but it's a reminder that women no matter the age have voices too and we have the right and the voice to “SAY NO.”

With everything arising society at the moment this video “SAY NO” with its bold statements, true experiences sheds light on subjects often overlooked or pushed to the side. Both poets in this video are extremely talented and clearly share a connection with the subjects at hand making this video truly moving.
