Standing at 7’0”, a three point machine with post moves that are unstoppable, Channing Frye! Channing has always been a Jokester and a team leader. He is always making teammates laugh helping them out and in general just being a good guy. In the NBA his strength was shooting. He has had a long basketball career is average 3 point % throughout his career was 38.8%, it might seem low but the average NBA 3 point percentage is 40 or 42%. He also had a high field goal percentage of 44.0%, the average field goal percentage is between 43% and 46% in the NBA. Lastly he had a very high free throw % of 82%. The league NBA average is 75 or 78%.

In the NBA he played for 14 years for 6 teams. One of those that he played for was the Portland Trail Blazers. “The Blazers are good but, the west has a lot of good teams this year including, The Lakers, The Clippers, The Rockets, The Nuggets, and the Timberwolves So it’s gonna be rough for them.”

“ It was amazing to play for the Blazers, I got to play with a young Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge,”  said Frye. “This year I think that they will make the 5th or 6th seed in the playoffs this year, because the west is stacked this year they will probably make a 1st round exit,” he said.

In his last season which was the 2018-19 season he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In this season he averaged a low field goal percentage of 36% the average field goal percentage of the 2018-19 season was 46.1%, but he had a high 3 point percentage of 40.5% and the  average 3 point field goal percentage was 35.5% so he really dominated that stat. He also had a high free throw percentage of 78.6% and the average free throw percentage was 76%. Even if he didn’t play much, he still has a high percentage of a lot of stats.

“When I got benched sometimes I was pissed because the coaches wouldn’t tell me why, and then other times coaches explained to me why I’m coming off the bench or that not playing gave our team the best chance of winning,” said Frye

“If I were to play in the NBA I would want to play for a team that is contending for a playoff spot or a finals contending team because I like to win just like everyone else and it would be nice to get another ring with another team,” said Frye.”

The 6 teams that Channing played for were the New York Knicks for the 2005-06 to 2006-07 season,
Portland Trail Blazers for the 2007-08 to 2008-09 season, Phoenix Suns for the 2009-10 to 2011-12 season, Phoenix Suns again for the 2013-14 season, Orlando Magic for the 2014-15 to 2015-16 season, Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2015-16 to 2017-18 season, Los Angeles Lakers for the rest of the 2017-18 season, and then I ended with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2018-19.

“To play in the NBA was a dream come true. I always worked as hard as I could and challenged myself everyday to be better than I was the day before. I am an NBA champion and to reach that level, not a lot of players have so that feels even better,” said Frye.” As of now Channing is living on a farm with his wife and 4 kids. He still travels all around the world to do some TV basketball broadcasting stuff and also just to travel for fun. Last weekend Channing went to Nebraska with Dwyane Wade and his wife to go see a CornHuskers football game.  “Now that I don’t play in the NBA, what do I do? Well honestly it’s a surprise, i’m still involved with basketball but I want to keep my next job a secret until the last moment, LOL,” said Frye.”
