Photojournalism essay by Elena Valdovinos

On November 3, just before dinner, Coco Valdovinos, the family snuggle bug, licks the floor mischievously. Coco was one of the many puppies that found a home during the pandemic, contributing to the record breaking year for dog adoptions/sales due to the coronavirus.

The date is October 28, and this beautiful orange tree has shed its fair share of autumn leaves across the sidewalks of Forest Heights. Reds and yellows were littered across the streets, the air was getting colder; you could definitely tell that fall had arrived.

On October 27, a lone tree stands in front of a busy field at Forest Park Elementary School. Due to uncalculated complications, it didn’t lose its green leaves as soon as the others around it.
