Photo Journalism Essay by Bella Lehmann

On October 27th, Lulu Lehmann searches through her closet looking for a makeshift Halloween costume for when her friend comes over. Because of Covid-19, she doesn’t want to buy an outfit since she decided to not go trick-or-treating.

Lehmann stares in the mirror carefully places the plastic tiara on her head, making sure to not mess up her hair. The tiara had been part of a princess costume years ago that was worn by her older sister.

Lehmann points her sword at the camera as she finishes her Halloween costume of a pirate, princess, pediatrician. She says she is sad that she won’t get to go around the neighborhood much, but is glad to have a friend coming over.
