Storytelling - Trains

My story was about a time when my friend jumped on and stood up on a moving train.

I chose to tell this story simply because I thought it was one of the more memorable moments I've had in my life. It was also a recent story so I remembered lots of details from what happened. And for some odd reason, it feels important to me.

I enjoyed telling this story to the whole class without using notes. It was definitely a positive experience. I learned that I really have a love for telling stories that I think I would like to nurture. I think letting all of our classmates have a little peek into our personal lives is a great way to help us grow as a community.

"Say No" - slam poetry

The two poets in the video are Olivia Gatwood, Megan Falley reciting their poem “ SAY NO.” The pure strength in their voices is enough to evoke emotion as they touch on topics of rape, sexual harassment, equal pay and the struggles women go through in society today and in the past. Even with some vulgar language that is used to emphasis the point of just saying no won't be enough to make you happy, I still find myself captivated by the words that are being spoken.
