Mass Communications Interview

She isn’t very tall but she is mighty. Her personality is as bubbly as a glass of freshly poured sparkling water. Ms. Lisa Klein-Wolf is not your typical FLI, Leadership and Math teacher.

Klein-Wolf doesn’t enjoy when students have hard stuff going on in their personal lives.

“The hardest part for me is when I have students who have stuff going on in their personal lives and I have no way to control it. Such things like abuse, drugs and alcohol, addiction, mental health issues, illnesses, etc.”

Klein-Wolf has empathy for teenagers because she remembers when she was a teenager. However, she also believes that the world has changed since she was a teenager.

When Klein-Wolf was a teenager, she didn’t have any technology and had to talk to her friends face to face.

“The biggest difference I saw was with technology! I did not have a personal computer until my senior year of college. Personal cell phones, the internet, and social media, facetime and conference calls were none existent back then!” Said Klein-Wolf.

As the world around us is changing, so is Lincoln, too. However, some things at Lincoln will always stay the same.

“Track walks (haven’t changed) though it is about to change. Also, even though the students have all changed, I have noticed that they are all similar in their passions with wanting change in the world.”

Klein-Wolf enjoys some things about Lincoln but there are some things she would like to change about it.

“This year I get to teach in room 135 and I love that room. In room 135, there is just enough space to move around and for students to sit comfortably. While I do enjoy my cozy space in the basement, I know there are limitations and that sometimes the heat and crowded nature of the room are not optimal for learning.”

Even though Klein-Wolf doesn’t think her room for math is in the best location in the school, she still embraces and has a positive attitude towards having a cozy space and enjoying Room 135 when she can!

Klein-Wolf really enjoys students who graduate that come baack to see her.

“Some of my favorite memories are when students who graduate, come back and give me a big hug and share their successes with me,” Klein-Wolf states.

She is thankful she joined an organization called AmeriCorps, which gave her an opportunity to do community service.

“Doing this program made me decide that I wanted to become a teacher,” stated Klein-Wolf.
