Hong Kong Protestors Treatment: Editorial cartoon

By George Spencer

The reason why I chose to write about the treatment of protesters is because I feel that it’s important to shed light on the treatment that people are receiving for trying to fight for a better way of life.
The main technique that I’m using is irony, because I used a contrast of ideas in my comic where a worker gives the idea of trying to better understand their citizens, and help them. While the other worker said to spray them with water, and use tear gas to halt the protestors,
and the boss chooses the idea where they spray them with water and use tear gas.
I learned that coloring is a good way to help others see your work due to pencil being hard to see at far distances. I’ve also learned that by having a comic that is funny it helps the reader stay engaged in your comic more, and in turn they’ll be more willing to look at the idea conveyed.
