Colorado Wall Editorial Cartoon

I created this editorial cartoon because I thought that this was an exploitable topic to make an editorial cartoon about. The motivation of the cartoon was when Donald Trump, at a rally in Philadelphia, claimed that he was going to make a great wall in Colorado. This is obviously unrealistic because Colorado is not on the southern border. I thought that this was a funny anecdote from a person who calls himself a genius.

It was a pretty simple process in making this cartoon. I drafted it first, then I penciled it, penned it, and colored the final draft. I used the techniques of perspective for the wall and the people and exaggeration throughout the whole comic. I also used a good amount of labeling.

I’ve learned through this process how to make an editorial cartoon and how to think about current issues in a way that can be seen as humorous. I gained a lot of creative thinking skills through this project and would love to make more editorial cartoons in the future.
