Selfish Archipelago
By Sydney Ward
Selfish Archipelago follows the stories of two best friends, Johnny and David, portrayed by “IT” stars Jaeden Martell and Wyatt Oleff. After becoming trapped in their video game, Selfish Archipelago, the two friends are separated and must collect ten koalas to leave the game yet again. Johnny, intrigued by his new sense of adventure, plays by the game master’s rules and attempts to find David. Their short-lived love and friendship comes to an end when David betrays Johnny, and they must compete in a video game match to determine who will survive.
The two A-List actors become amateur filmmakers, directors, and editors in this short skit, and we get to see the humor and personality come through in the video. Obviously, the whole skit is a big joke and is an example of two teenage boys with too much free time. While slightly blunt and sarcastic, the humor makes the simple skit into a hilariously stupid mockery.
The blunt humor of Selfish Archipelago may not amuse all, but with fans across the globe, Martell and Oleff definitely bring something new to the YouTube world. Fans deem the pair as, “The best youtuber[s] of our generation.” One YouTube user gives a lovely summary of the skit, claiming, “this is really what happens when you give theater kids a camera - they use their acting powers for surreal memes.”

Great descriptive language and summary of the video, want to watch it now.
ReplyDeleteThis made me want to watch the video! I like your description both of the video and the characters in it.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture and this had a very good description!
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you addressed how people may not amuse all but you tied it back to something that a lot of high school students can relate to, memes.
ReplyDeleteFriends don't do this David.
