Janelle Monáe held one of the most successful and electrifying Grammy performances of the 2019 Grammy’s by channeling her inner Prince. While singing one of her most popular songs, Make Me Feel, from the album, Dirty Computer, Monáe dances and moves around the stage smoothly.

As a longtime fan of Monáe, I have personally seen her love and I was not disappointed. I was worried that by her performing at the Grammys she would succumb to the media and hold a boring and unlike her show. This performance stayed true to her theatrical ability without going over the top. She also stayed true to her sexuality and controversial views when performing and dancing.

As Monáe features her attire from the song and video, Pynk, she alludes to many of her other songs. Monáe not only dances to this song in a fresh and unique way, but she does not lose her iconic voice as many other performers do.

"Say No" - slam poetry

The two poets in the video are Olivia Gatwood, Megan Falley reciting their poem “ SAY NO.” The pure strength in their voices is enough to evoke emotion as they touch on topics of rape, sexual harassment, equal pay and the struggles women go through in society today and in the past.
