On March 1, 2019, our Mass Communications class took a walking field trip to The Oregonian/Oregon Live’s Head Quarters in Downtown Portland, Oregon to learn more about how working in the media is. When we first arrived at the building we were greeted in the lobby by Eder Campuzano.

Mr. Campuzano is a reporter for The Oregonian and Oregon Live. His main focus as a reporter is to write about what is trending as well as education in Oregon, especially Portland Public Schools. Before working for The Oregonian and Oregon Live, Campuzano edited and wrote for The Torch publication at Lane Community College as well as The Emerald at the University of Oregon (LinkedIn).

I really appreciated how Eder showed us around the office and introduced us to several reporters and editors from the Oregon Media Group. It really gave my classmates and me a view of what working in the media industry is really like. I found it interesting that there are so many different types of jobs that come from working in the media. I especially liked the video editing and podcasting jobs that Eder spoke about. I think that that is an area that I would like to work in. Overall, our trip was phenomenal and I hope to visit again soon!
