This Saturday Night Live (SNL) skit does a parody spoof on the 2016 presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. This humorous skit makes families laugh and lightens up a heavy subject. It exaggerates talking points and quotes, yet doesn’t stray too far from the main plot of the event. Each line is an inner thought predicted by the writers that relates closely to the runners. The writers make sure to tease both runners with every line. Donald Trump is made fun of more, which allows Hillary Clinton to make sly remarks towards her opponent. It depicts Trump to be indecisive, a cheater, racist, and egotistical. It makes Clinton out to be clever, trying to be relatable, and confident which can be seen as cocky. The whole video shows Trump making himself seem conceited and Clinton is confident as she believes Trump is taking away his own chances of being president.
I like the video because it brings laughter and ease to a heavy subject. It is funny which makes people forget about the stress of presidential debates and elections. SNL allows people to come home after a long day and joke about the humorous aspects of politics which reminds people that it's okay to crack a smile at serious events every once in a while.
The cast of SNL plays various arts with as Kate McKinnon Hillary Clinton and Alec Baldwin as Donald trump. These are the recurring actors for all the skits containing these characters and they do all they can to match the political runners and aren’t shy of recreating them almost indistinguishable. Michael Che plays Lester Holt, the man asking the questions.
I love the picture you chose! Your first paragraph explains what happens in the video super well and I like you analysis of the episode!
