Zoe Tomlinson’s Freshman Agenda
By Hailey Dunst
Imagine doing more than three sports in one year. Imagine that on top of many other extracurricular activities. This is the life of freshman Zoe Tomlinson. She loves a busy schedule and doesn’t fail to achieve one. “I am on the speech and debate team; I signed up for some clubs, ” Tomlinson states. “I’m running for treasurer, I do two sports, one is synchronized swimming and one is water polo, and I also play the piano… I also want to try swim team in the winter,” Tomlinson says. She plans on staying in the water, avoiding ‘land sports’ at all costs.
Tomlinson says “I joined synchro [because] I saw the synchro people on the other side of the pool.” She was envious of those other athletes because they looked like they were having fun being part of team. She enjoys both sports but they do have their downsides.
“They both have very busy schedules [but] they don’t really overlap [yet they’re] all on the same day,” which only increases her busy schedule making many days over 5 hours of practice in the pool.
Tomlinson says she gets stressed, but “I’m probably going to do synchro all the way through high school and I’ll most likely do water polo all the way through high school.”
After high school Tomlinson would like to continue swimming, but it would not affect her decision on college.
“I feel like swimming in college would be very fun whether it’s synchro or water polo so if I could find a college that does offer a swimming program that would be great,” Tomlinson says.“Next year I would want to try to make the Constitution Team!” she adds.
Overall she loves her schedule, even if it seems difficult at times. She is now freshman treasurer and supports her school any way she can. Tomlinson doesn’t plan on slowing down, she plans on speeding up.
As a friend of Zoe, I really think that this accurately represents her! I think that the way that you placed the quotes gives Zoe a great personality!
